Google launched three years ago
its payment system from mobile devices, Google Wallet. Now, it seems to be
trying to compete with Apple Pay, a payment platform that despite being
launched only a few months ago, is dominating a market.
As recorded by the Wall StreetJournal, Google is planning a new version of Wallet, which is expected to be
launched at the Google I / O to take place in May. The Mountain View company
could make a significant financial outlay to establish agreements with device
manufacturers, banks, operators and payment networks, which would enable it to
boost its payments system against the Apple platform.
Why Wallet is so important to Google?
Seeing the efforts put Google on
this project, it would appear that payment platforms are a great way to earn
money, but the fact is that the interests of the company are very different.
Its main objective with this new version of Wallet is simply to stand up to
Apple Pay to prevent certain users from passing the Cupertino company.
Everything indicates that Google would be talking to banks for payment
operators as MasterCard or Visa, which would ensure control of the mobile
payment system worldwide.

Google also would be talking to
device manufacturers, but it seems that large manufacturers are interested in
Google Wallet. For its part, Samsung has recently purchased LoopPay, the
payment system works with magnetic stripe readers without using NFC. LoopPay it
expected to be one of the key features of the expected Galaxy S6.
The big difference, for both
Google Wallet on your new version will be the set of supports that Google
intends to get to boost its platform. Thus, device manufacturers, operators,
banks and financial institutions will be the protagonists of a system in which
Google would cede most of its benefits, but entrench users.
Omid Kurdestani, head of the
business office of Google, announced last month that the company would bring to
light "system fully functional payments" that go "beyond simply
tap and pay" throughout this year. We do not know if these claims refer to
a new version of Google Wallet, or Plaso, the mobile payment system that uses
Bluetooth and an operating system based on the initial buyer. There are also
rumors of a possible purchase by Google of Softcard, the payment system
designed by AT & T, Verizon and Sprint.
Mobile payment systems have begun
to establish itself in the US market, and its use is expected to continue to
rise. From The Android Libre we expect Google offers us more information about
your renewed payment system during the next Google I / O. For now, this
ambitious project promises, hopefully come soon to Spain and lives up to
expectations.
